Are you paying too much council tax? 25 Jan 2007

I hope some people make some money from this, or rather get some back. We, in the borough of Kingston pay the most council tax in the country so I feel extra obliged to point you to this page, which explains how your house could very well be in the wrong council tax banding. If so, you could claim back overpayments from as far back as the early 1990s!

This is going to be a big story when it goes...

Bereavement fares 24 Jan 2007

A tip that hopefully you'll never have to use - if you have had a death in the family and need to fly to the funeral, some commercial airlines offer bereavement fares that are around half the price of a full price ticket. Not all offer this though as they would argue that cheap airline tickets are something they already offer, but I'm glad that businesses are sensitive to this sort of thing. A ...

Popular internet searches in... 22 Jan 2007

China. The questions being asked by a nation's population says a lot about that country. Baidu has recently published what people in China are searching for. I'm sure there are some cultural observations to make here. As for other countries, well Google also has a Zeitgeist page you might want to check out.

Rent out your parking space 14 Jan 2007

Finding a parking space near your train station or place of work is difficult to start with, finding a cheap one is nigh on impossible. So, someone made ParkatmyHouse.com. Seems like a great idea. They take 10% of the rent, but that seems reasonable!

Read more books 13 Jan 2007

If one of your New Years resolutions was to do more reading, Daily Lit might be a site you should visit. They have a bunch of books to choose from and the innovative thing about this is that you get to read them in bitesize sections via emails, scheduled to arrive in your inbox, say, at 9am every weekday if you want. What a great idea!

Now a Multilanguage Blog 05 Jan 2007

Since its creation, Nimisis.com has sadly neglected the majority of the world's internet users by being an English-only site. That has now all changed!

New language links are now at the top of each page. Hopefully everyone will feel a bit more included by being able to read the content in their native language. As a mandarin speaking person, I might actually start slowly translating certain page...

Goal line technology... coming soon? 02 Jan 2007

Over 80% of football fans are in favour of it and it's going to be trialed at the 2007 FIFA World Club Championship - so will goal line technology be here to stay? I thought I'd do a bit of research on this and share that here.
