Really Simple Syndication is a web feed format that, similar to a normal webpage starts with "http://" but is an xml file (i.e. usually ends in ".xml"). By subscribing to a website's RSS feed (via an RSS reader like Bloglines or Google Reader), you don't have to be constantly going to your favourite sites checking for new content. Instead the reader checks the feed for you and when it finds new content, it presents it to you. There are also certain benefits - the content (which is presumably what you're interested in) is all that's presented to you. So the extraneous images, strange font colours, sidebars etc are got rid of.
So this gives me a chance to plug the Nimisis.com RSS feed. (I might add feeds to each of the Wii in stock alert services too...) I must confess that I haven't used RSS feeds myself until very recently... I guess a combination of being quite impressed by the ease of use of Bloglines and Google Reader - then being pleasantly surprised at the amount of time I save when surfing has turned that around! So, if that sounds like you too, check it out!

The Good Life is set to get even better for some as a new development here in Surbiton looks really quite glamorous. It's just off the high street and is called Surbiton Plaza. Unfortunately their website isn't very informative, so I thought I'd make a post and ask anyone with some info (on prices etc) to contribute in the comments section. I expect you'd need a serious mortgage to move in... I'm just curious as to exactly how serious...

That scene from Mel Gibson's Braveheart springs to mind... Freedom is often taken for granted in UK, but it's clear from this table that it's a luxury in many countries.

You can now design your own Lego inventions, get it manufactured and then buy the box with instructions with Lego factory. I was thinking about this when I made my recent video as what was carrying the webcam was a Lego Mindstorms robot... but if someone really wants the design then get in touch (though it's really no more than a glorified trolley)!

...with this cool little flash game which has some clever physics in it.
Profits were down last quarter, Vista sales are poor, Google are selling web apps to rival Office and there's one massive mp3 fine coming. Looks like 2007's going to be a tough year for Microsoft...

Not one for those with a fear of heights I'm afraid. A skywalk is under construction in the Grand Canyon and will offer some very impressive views! Must check this out when I'm next in the area.

"Some of the web's most innovative developers might want to check the temperature when they arrive for the Future of Web Apps conference this week -- in tech circles, this city is getting hot again."
London's developers and entrepreneurs should find this article quite encouraging!
