The Nightmare before Christmas Eve

What I really didn't want to happen for Christmas happened on Christmas Eve. I did something I always do without fail - I turned the handle to flush the toilet (...don't worry kids, this isn't rude) which, as expected, started the flush. What wasn't anticipated was my superhuman strength which caused the fairly solid metal handle to shear right off, causing it to plop into the swirling mini rapids of the bowl and flush itself down the U-bend. Thankfully, Santa sent round a helpful plumber which was kind especially as around Christmas it must get pretty busy. Don't know what I would've done otherwise... The tank was sealed shut and I didn't have a bucket (what with shops being closed) to chuck water down the toilet to initiate any kind of flush... Hmmm, I'm struggling to find any semi-relevant links to this little tale, except of course that a search for "toilet accident" turns up some amusing horrific stories. Anyway, that's probably enough about toilets, I seem to talk about them every month. They really are a blessing though!

Depending usually on the size of my lunch, I can at times be possibly the laziest person in the world. Naturally therefore the idea of having my web searches read out to me (instead of the physical stress and strain of having to read them myself) appeals to me greatly. If this appeals to you too, take a look at Speegle. (Not to be confused with Smeagol from Lord of the Rings.) Speakers or headphones would be a good idea here.

ID cards

This ID card debate seems to be hotting up... I think I'm right in thinking that in Taiwan everybody has to have their ID card on them at all times. If someone's caught without theirs they have to report to a police station within a matter of days. Can see some pros and cons but am still undecided. I want to hear a proper debate on this...

Rainbow Wahine

The University of Hawaii volleyball team is pretty awesome and I could've predicted that they'd have a great season when I saw them play on my holiday... so nearly unbeaten!

Since transferring to SuSE linux as the host for nimisis it's come to my attention that the contact me page was sending emails into thin air/the rubbish bin. So if you've sent me mail recently and didn't get a response, sorry! I do actually get the mail now if you want to try again...

Sports Personality of the Year

BBC Sports Personality of the Year - Matthew Pinsent comes close but it's got to be Kelly Holmes surely!

Jokes for your particular sense of humour.
