A little while ago I mentioned how great Pandora was for listening to music. Well, it is great, but it's got some competition from Blogmusik, where you can have the track you want streamed to you on request. Sweeeeeet!

A seemingly ridiculous way to spend a sun drenched saturday is to get up at 6:30am and go to watch an entire season of the TV series "24". Without adverts this takes up about 18 hours but no, it's worth it, well worth it. Eye strain, dead butt-cheeks and DVT are a small price to pay to witness Jack Bauer, the anti-terrorist, come up with lines like, "the only reason you're conscious right now is because I don't want to carry you."
For the uninitiated but intrigued (admit it), the official site has an archive of every hour's action for the last five seasons. Wikipedia also has a good section explaining past plots and character profiles, reminding fans who's dead and who's still alive. It's hard to keep track as Jack Bauer is probably the leading cause of death in middle-eastern men. He's supported by a government agency called CTU (Counter Terrorism Unit aka Criminal Torture Unit), the members of which solve problems and decode stuff by looking up one or two random technical terms in a dictionary and then say them together in a confident way. One time for example, saying "I used a machine-coded matrix" magically yielded some much needed result.

Following the success of Flix 1.0 (as featured on PC Plus Spain's dvd for September 2006, issue 109), version 2 is now ready for download to make your time lapse webcam videos even better. New features include capture resolution of 640x480 and ability to use in conjuction with Windows Task Scheduler to capture frames at, say, 10am every morning.

Adverts on TV are usually rubbish, but occasionally a very funny advert crops up. Here's a whole collection of very funny ads.

Recipes often frustrate me... well cooking is all too frequently frustrating in itself but finding a tasty looking dish in the cookbook only to then have to run down to Sainsbury's for the ingredients gets tedious. I had this idea ages ago of getting together a database of good meals (and what was required to make them) so I'd then be able to query it according to what was already in the fridge. They've beat me to it...

This is very interesting. Play various mp3s of tones at different frequencies and find out if you can hear them. You probably need reasonably good speakers though.
Came across Riya recently which puts an interesting spin on the still fairly new wave of photo management websites. Riya can analyse the photos you give it using face detection and can guess very accurately who the people are in your photos (after some initial training of course). It can also do character recognition to spot signs and logos. Very clever!

By completing this quiz (http://www.microsoft.com/india/offers/vista/quiz.aspx), you can get a CD of Microsoft Windows Vista beta 2 sent to you for free. I'm not a Microsoft fanboy by any means but it could be interesting...
