Monitoring my sleep

I got a SleepTracker watch recently. It's a gadget that detects "almost awake" moments during the night, so then when it approaches a time window I've set for wanting to get up, the watch will work out the best moment to wake me. The potential elimination of morning grogginess was too appealing!

Fortunately there's a 30 day moneyback guarantee. It's still got a few problems, for example, I was already awake when the alarm went off this morning. There's a more comprehensive review here. Shame really. It has given me a good idea for a future project though.

Ripper v1.0 out now!

Ripper is an application that periodically grabs online images to create timelapse movies. Pictures are ripped off a specified website every few seconds, minutes or hours (whatever the user decides), then they are merged together as frames in a time-lapse video. Some cool effects can be achieved this way.

For more details see this page.

Just a Minute is a BBC Radio 4 show and it's so called because guests are asked to talked on a random subject for 60 seconds without "hesitation, repetition or deviation". It's harder than it sounds!

I've made a page here on nimisis that lets you practise this. You don't get penalised for hesitating, repeating or deviating, but it's an interesting exercise anyway.

Vista? No thanks.

Microsoft is getting ready to roll out Vista and I really can't think of any good reason to upgrade.

There are 6 different versions to choose from, so it's not immediately clear to me which one is most suitable. Then there also seems to be a pretty draconian license agreement that should put most people off.
