"Red Nose Day is a UK-wide fundraising event organised by Comic Relief every 2 years which culminates in a night of extraordinary comedy and moving documentary films. It's the biggest TV fundraising event in the UK calendar. On Red Nose Day everyone in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland is encouraged to cast inhibitions aside, put on a Red Nose, and do something a bit silly to raise money - celebrities included. It is an event that unites the entire nation in trying to make a difference to the lives of thousands of individuals facing terrible injustice or living in abject poverty."

The Nintendo Wii is only just coming out in the land of my birth, Taiwan, and they're going crazy over them judging by what I've been hearing. Over on this side of the world they're still pretty hard to get hold of, but Amazon UK did have them for a relatively long time this evening. If you missed out, sign ups are still available for my UK and US in-stock notification services...

The final book in the Harry Potter series has a bit of a weird title - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I'm sure there's an anagram in there somewhere, though I'm not sure what. Anyway, it's right at the top of the preorder charts on Amazon already, even though its release date is not until July 21st. It's strange then that J K Rowling's works are up there among the books most unfinished by readers...

One thing that I think is often overlooked when people pick a ski resort is the distance it is away from the airport. If your skiing holiday is only for a week, leaving home early on a Saturday morning and getting there in time for some time on the slopes that afternoon/evening is a big bonus! So here's a list of European destinations by their distance from the runways with some other info included.
| Resort | Distance (km) from airport | Piste Length (km) | Weekly ski pass (£) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chamonix, France | 88 from Geneva | 152 | 142 |
| Glenshee, Scotland | 110 from Aberdeen | 40 | 120 |
| Les Arcs, France | 140 from Geneva | 200 | 156 |
| Sierra Nevada, Spain | 150 from Malaga | 61 | 142 |
| Lillehammer, Norway | 160 from Oslo | 30 | 135 |
| Val D'Isere, France | 180 from Geneva | 300 | 154 |
| Andorra | 185 from Barcelona | 282 | 110 |
| Bormio, Italy | 200 from Milan-Malpensa and Linate | 39 | 98 |
| Saas-Fee, Switzerland | 225 from Geneva | 140 | 128 |
| Pamporovo, Bulgaria | 240 from Sofia | 25 | 42 |
Could Ricky Ponting be any more smug? Somebody, anybody, please please wipe that expression off his face and win the World Cup. South Africa? Sri Lanka? Dare I say England?

Ironically here is a man who is eminently electable. Hope he gets to cast his vote before leaving parliament. Either way, he deserves lots of respect, especially as Trident's rubbish.

This is what could happen if you refuse compensation to move. Guess it could be difficult to sell this house... despite its scenic views, potential moat and central location...

RSS feeds are gaining popularity so I've added a few more feeds on this site.
Because it is more than possible that a visitor won't be interested in every single post I make (though if they are they could subscribe to the general feed), feeds have been made for each "tag" category - see the tag cloud on the right. If you go to a tag like "photos" or "London" there will be a feed associated with it, indicated by the standard orange icon. So if you're into rugby but not cricket or Wii but not PS3, you can now distil Nimisis to only things you might be interested in.
