Top commenters

The snippet you see at the bottom of the side column is a new feature that has just been added today. The "top commenters" list is there to encourage visitors to give their opinion on thoughts expressed on this website. The five commenters who contribute most will now not only be having their say about blog posts but also get links to their website or blog shown on most Nimisis.com pages.

By the way, as people do share the same names, the counting is done by looking at the email address given with the comment. (This address is never displayed or used to send unsolicited email.)

Rip Off Britain!

Long have UK consumers felt that products cost more in their shops than in those of certain members of the EU and United States. Is this feeling well founded? The results are quite startling - it really is Rip Off Britain!

Home Information Packs

From today, every property in England and Wales with four or more bedrooms must include a Home Information Pack when it is put up for sale. (The link points to an example template.) Included are documents such as a sale statement and Energy Performance Certificate.

There must be some conflict-of-interest issues in getting sellers to provide honest HIPs. Is this unnecessary and costly bureaucracy? Time will tell, especially as smaller homes will need HIPs in due course. Personally, I think buyers would be wise to gather their own information about a prospective new home before taking on that mortgage!

Floods in Oxford, and more

Despite getting her bottom pinched during a live broadcast for Channel 4, I think Sue Turton does very well to stay unfazed and keep going with her story!

More press for Price Cut Review

Last week the finance site Motley Fool featured an article on Money-Saving Shopping Tips that had Price Cut Review up as the number one tip! Earlier in the year the UK sister site also gave us a plug. So thanks a lot!

Are you at risk of flooding?

The damage due to the flooding here in UK is still all over the news, but unfortunately, the worst may still not be over! There's still a load of water that presumably still has to come down the Thames to London...

The environment agency has a useful little utility that lets you check what the risk of flooding is in your area and see a map. Just enter your post code.
