How to buy a car on eBay

A friend of mine bought a car (a Mercedes Z3 in fact) on the online auction site recently and got a really good deal. It's a great way to get a bargain, as long as you do some research.

There are lots of cars on eBay. Have a browse around eBay Motors. Or this car auction if you're based in UK.

Tags: car, auction, ebay, tip

Free tickets to British Motor Show

The British International Motor show is now on at ExCel London. Tickets cost £20 but if you spend £30 or more at Burton, you get a pair of tickets for free! There's still a week left of the show so plenty of time! Note also that tickets are going fairly cheaply on eBay...

Tags: exhibition, British Motor Show, car, ticket

Claim back bank and credit card charges

Late fees and penalty charges are unfair and illegal so there's been a mad dash recently to claim back six year's worth of money from the bank. Some sites are profiteering a bit by saying they'll do it for you for a commission but there's no need! Step by step instructions including template letter you can print out are here. The best thing is it's almost guaranteed you'll get all your money back (including interest) from unfair bank and credit card charges because the banks are desperate not to appear in court. Not a single one has so far!

Tags: bank, late fee, credit card, money

Martin vs car

A little while ago my colleague Martin through no fault of his own got run over by a car, well, got run under and hit more like. Both came off pretty badly in the accident, a head injury and a smashed windscreen. The photographic evidence is below and inset is a close-up of a clump of hair the windscreen took off him. Anyway, the reckless driver's going to court and a claim should result. Martin's fine now... that's to say, we can't tell any difference...

Awesome car alarm

Speaking yesterday of traffic wardens, I think having this somewhat fearsome Tesla coil car alarm might put a stop to any parking tickets...

ID cards

This ID card debate seems to be hotting up... I think I'm right in thinking that in Taiwan everybody has to have their ID card on them at all times. If someone's caught without theirs they have to report to a police station within a matter of days. Can see some pros and cons but am still undecided. I want to hear a proper debate on this...

Tags: ID card
