25 February [more from this month]

Surbiton Plaza

surbitonThe Good Life is set to get even better for some as a new development here in Surbiton looks really quite glamorous. It's just off the high street and is called Surbiton Plaza. Unfortunately their website isn't very informative, so I thought I'd make a post and ask anyone with some info (on prices etc) to contribute in the comments section. I expect you'd need a serious mortgage to move in... I'm just curious as to exactly how serious...

jan arif :
We have an existing restaurant in kingston upon thames and would like to consider to open a branch in surbiton could you kindly let us know if you have a unit available wiyhin the complex.

Looks like this development is getting some negative press... let alone the fact that you'd be mad to buy a house with the climate in the housing market being what is it at the moment!

It looks like the Surbiton Plaza has hit problems already in trying to get their shops let.

This change of use application is for one of the main street units - this points to them having shag all chance of letting the ones down their back alley at this rate.

...

I don't think surbiton needs any more restaurants - they're's more than enough at the minute - the real problem is that a fair few of them are pretty bland & dated and don't make much of an effort.

The new "hotel" beside the wetherspoons has been trying to let its ground floor as an independent restaurant for some time now without success.

Despite the PR blurb, this new Surbiton Plaza is pretty bland as well.
Btw, the shops within it will never survive, located down a dark alleyway. It’s hard enough to persuade shoppers to come into surbiton, never mind persudae them to go down an overshadowed alleyway when they get there.

Are the palnenrs trying to recreate the glory days of the seventies when they waved through the destruction of much of surbiton’s architectural heritage?

Henry Root :
Popped into their flashy new sales office to learn that current enquiries were by appointment only. Open to 'Joe Public' next Saturday 19th. They've had so much interest in the development with 2 bedroom flats going from between £360K - £450K. If I was interested (which I'm certainly not), I was told to get in quick.

Let's wait for the well overdue crash! It's got to happen when we reach these levels
