Scorer is an electronic scoreboard that can be controlled via remote control. Useful for volleyball, table tennis, squash, basketball etc, using Scorer means you can concentrate on playing the game and adjust the score between points. Apple Remotes can be used on machines such as the Macbook, Macbook Pro or Macbook Air which are portable and easily taken to a game.

Version 1.0 (released 23/09/08)

  • Keeps scores up to 199 - 199.

If you're interested in educational software, you might like to make time lapse videos or long exposure photos, which can be useful for science experiments.

Q1: What limitations are there in the trial version?
A1: Scores only go up to 4 - 4. The full version allows scores up to 199 - 199

Q2: How much does Scorer cost to buy?
A2: Scorer is shareware, not freeware. Version 1.0 costs $5. The license code you receive should be saved in /Library/Preferences/scorer.lic (Please also read the notes on the column to the right if you intend to purchase Scorer.)

Q3: How do I get started?
A3: Run up Scorer and press some buttons. You should see the score changing from the default of 0 - 0.

Q4: What do the buttons do?
A4: The volume plus and back buttons increment and decrement the home score. The forward and volume minus buttons adjust the away score. Menu flips the sides and play/pause resets to zero.

Q5: I don't have an Apple Remote. Where can I buy one?
A5: First check that your computer will be able to detect the Apple Remote. If so then you can get one from lots of places; for example the Apple Store (US/UK) or eBay (US/UK). To mimic the remote with the keyboard, press command-ctrl-fn-shift-F1 to F6.

Q6: Is there a Windows version of Scorer?
A6: No. Currently there are no plans to make a Windows version as remote controls are not a standard feature on most PCs.

Q7: This almost does what I want. Can I pay for some bespoke changes to be made?
A7: In short, yes. Contact us with details of what you need and we'll provide a quote.
